Our first and most important task was to fix the mistakes made by the earlier building company. We introduced significant constructional changes. As a result, safety of our clients stopped being an issue. Next, we repaired many faults, defects and failures caused by other companies, some of which were very urgent. Although such repairs were essential it is what shows to the eye that makes such renovation worthwhile. So, what did the renovation work cover?

  • Introducing structural changes;
  • Total remodelling of the ground floor;
  • Changing floors;
  • Changing electrical and plumbing installations;

Is it possible to keep the Edwardian style but have a modern home?

Yes, it is. Stunning results of renovation of Edwardian house in West London project speak for themselves. We managed to keep the style and atmosphere of a period property while introducing modern technology and solutions. The design studio Architecure:WK, who entrusted us with this project, paid attention to the smallest architectural detail. Their trust in our professional approach but also skills created a stunning home that our clients love.

At Rose Line we did our best to recreate the style of an Edwardian house. First, the tiles in the entryway are a beautiful visual extension of a stained glass in the front door. Then, we continue with deep dark skirting boards, doors, door frames and stairs with railings we refurbished. These on the other hand contrast with bright walls which we refreshed with a new coat of high-quality paint. We also paid attention to carefully refurbish covings and wall mouldings. It is essential to recreate the architectural style of the era. Next, we continued the style of finishing to the stairs and a hallway on the first floor. And that helped to naturally blend the two spaces.

Since people in the Edwardian era valued more than anything sunlight, cleanliness and simplicity the kitchen reflects the spirit of that time. The ground floor extension with one wall made entirely of patio glass doors allows plenty of natural light to fill the room. The herring bone flooring which we laid gives a warm but at the same time very classy feel and continues thought the ground floor. Bathrooms are another space where we managed to keep the Edwardian style. The copper-plated taps, wall mounted shower, custom made vanities and free-standing bathtub all reflect the trends of the century. Thus, we kept the style while meeting modern standards of functionality and technology.

What should you think of before starting a house extension project?

First and foremost, you need to decide what are your needs, what is lacking in your current home. When you have already made that decision, next thing to think of are logistics and law regulations. Can your house be extended under Permitted Development or is the Planning Permission needed. Once all the legal matters are sorted it is recommended to create a plan. It is best to do it with a qualified architect. Finally, you need to choose a construction company that would bring this project to life.

Does it matter which construction company I choose?
