Historic buildings are a wonderful testimony of an era that has passed. However, their design does not go hand in hand with modern living. We are proud to present how we brought to life a bold project creating a modern 5-bedroom house. A house which honours the past but with modern touches makes a dream home.
How did we convert neglected property into a modern house?
Contemporary approach
The comprehensive house renovation in West London was a massive project, that went way beyond modernising outdated interiors. We had to build a house extension on ground, first and second floor. Such extension created the need and opportunity to redesign and change the roof. The rear house extension allowed us to introduce modern solutions. First, we could let natural light flood the interior. We managed to do that by installing huge glass patio doors. Instead of traditional windows we also installed L-shaped window which connects roof with wall adding much more natural light. Second, we managed to future proof the building by adding sustainable renewable source of heating. Third, we completely transformed the rear garden by adding an elevated terrace and making the garden multi-level one. Additionally, we build a small deck in the middle of the garden with a pathway leading to it straight from the terrace.

Flexible space
The contemporary approach we took with comprehensive house renovation in West London completely transformed traditional way of understanding space. The strict division between the rooms and their functions was removed. We carried it out by connecting kitchen area with living room area. However, thanks to the fact that we installed massive pocket glass sliding doors between the rooms we created flexible space. This innovative solution not only allows more privacy when needed but also allows natural light to flow easily between the spaces. What is more, we installed patio doors both in living room and in the kitchen. Such solution provides access to the garden from both rooms seamlessly connecting the outdoors with the indoors. Although the house in West London is from 1920s it feels very contemporary and modern meeting the needs of modern living.
What were the greatest challenges of the renovation?
The comprehensive house renovation in West London faced two major challenges. The first challenge was building the new roof. Our client wanted us to create a bathroom, bedroom and storage under the roof. Thus, the construction of the roof needed to accommodate these needs. During initial consultation we used our expertise to see which renovation ideas are feasible and which are not. Thankfully, our skilled team were able to come up with solutions which not only met clients’ expectations but also were technologically sound. Such expert craftsmanship and paying meticulous attention to details are the characteristics of Rose Line.
Next challenge was the placement of the period property on conservation area. Consequently, it meant that at Rose Line we needed to work within constraints of such area. This comprehensive house renovation in West London required planning permissions and solutions true to period properties. By carefully navigating this home renovation project with diligent project management we managed to complete the renovation within nine months. What is more the building services and renovation process were made within a budget.

How did we utilise the new space?
Thanks to house extensions this renovation project was more than just modernising outdated interiors. During the comprehensive house renovation in West London, we managed to give new life to an old property. The extensions allowed us to create five bedrooms, four bathrooms, kitchen, dining room and living room. Apart from the mentioned rooms we also build a spacious reading room, cinema room and utility room. All these changes made gave this property unique character. What is more, it helped the homeowners to feel that their home is finally truly theirs. This full refurbishment with the rear ground, first and second-floor extensions and adding modern touches can help them feel as new homeowners.

This comprehensive house renovation in West London meant that we gave fresh look to all the rooms using our favourite high-quality paints. We also remodelled the bathrooms letting as much natural light in as possible and finishing them with bold coloured tiles. The most visible and stunning part of this renovation journey is the ground floor. The extension allowed us to create open concept space connecting the outside with inside. Additionally, the custom-made kitchen with kitchen island and bar stools adds to contemporary style that our clients really wanted. The whole ground floor interior is seamlessly connected by beautiful flooring and matching designer lighting. We even managed to create a little home office station in the living area. When we look at this project as a whole, together with beautifully landscaped garden, we feel nothing but proud. The results speak for themselves.
