Complete refurbishment of a flat overlooking the Thames

Full refurbishment to an iconic Edwardian flat within the heart of Richmond. The main challenge here was the entire extent of work carried out to this 2nd-floor apartment where the property was fully stripped to original brickwork and changing floor substructures.

Complete refurbishment of a flat overlooking the Thames

We proudly present our next renovation project – a complete refurbishment of a flat overlooking the Thames. We completely stripped the flat and recreated it from the scratch, but we kept it true to the period. Despite keeping the old style, we introduced some automatization. What challenges did we face during the renovation?

The greatest challenge of complete refurbishment of a flat overlooking the Thames was the fact that it is an apartment. What that means is that there is a lot of shared space with neighbours. That is why storage space during this flat renovation was limited. Another challenge we had was the location of the flat namely second floor. This meant that with each delivery we had to cover two storeys of stairs. What is more, such intensified traffic in the building might have been disturbing for the people who lived there.

We tried our best to minimise the impact on the tenants by careful planning both the deliveries from the suppliers and the work. Although we were not able to eliminate the noisy work completely, we managed to keep it as low as possible. We did not only want to collaborate closely with the neighbours for their sake. We also wanted to keep Rose Line’s good name in the community.

Hiring experienced professionals like Rose Line for your renovation plan is a guarantee of a job well done. Additionally, it helps you to stay on good terms with your neighbours, despite the inconveniences caused by the renovation work. Thanks to our experienced team and expertise we can plan ahead and schedule the work in efficient way.

Despite such extensive flat renovation project, we delivered beautifully finished flat in the agreed time of five months. We are happy that we can meet the expectations of our clients while still delivering the best quality.

Did we manage to keep the Edwardian character of the flat?

Keeping the Edwardian style was crucial. The whole building is kept in the period style, and it was also what our client wanted. This complete refurbishment of a flat overlooking the Thames shows our ability to recreate characteristics of a certain era. We started with mounting stunning ceiling covings. These very decorative finishings became a statement piece of its own. Additionally, in some places we underlined the beauty of the covings with LED light. This resulted in a very luxurious look and created stunning visual effect. We also added tall skirting and wall covings to complete the look. We painted the whole flat in beautiful colour. Together with light carpet the wall colour gives an airy look to the place. Another aspect of keeping the character of the era was restoration of the fireplaces.

The flat received new doors and windows that meet the requirements of historic buildings. These windows really catch an eye and let tones of natural light in. What is more, they allow the tenants to enjoy the view of Richmond’s shoreline. Additionally, the two-toned custom build kitchen has framed cupboards doors and hardware that is true to period. We did our best to make this flat as unified and close to Edwardian style as possible. Even the modern bathroom fits nicely with the colour scheme of the rest of the flat. We managed to remodel a classic property into a modern home for comfortable life, while still keeping the style.
